John T. PerryIII is a senior graphic designer and art director with more than 35 years in magazines, packaging and marketing. He started at Marblehead Communications in Boston and grew from designer to creative director at the original Working Media. He has run the studio under that name since 2009, designing and directing print and digital projects that arrive on time and on budget.
For more than thirty years, until his passing in 2024, he worked with designer Gary Koepke, co-founder of Modernista!, on projects including Creem, Vibe and Marvin. In 1993 the two drew the Vibe masthead, which ran unchanged for the magazine’s 17 years. His work has been recognized with a 2023 Grammy nomination (Interscope Reimagined, as contributing designer and typographer) and two Hermes Creative Awards golds.
In 2014 and 2015 he worked on site at Hasbro as an independent contract packaging designer, engaged directly and separately from Working Media. He led the 3.75-inch Star Wars: Episode 7 product line and was directly responsible for the packaging design of more than 100 UPCs, including exclusives for Toys R Us, Amazon and Target. He worked within the brand look established by Pilot (Boston) and Hasbro’s brand design team, on a 12-month development schedule.
He teaches graphic design as an adjunct professor at Stonehill College and holds a BFA from UMass Dartmouth.
Clients he has worked for across his career include Adobe Systems, Fidelity, Liberty Mutual, Gillette, Hallmark Channel, Sundance Channel, Time Warner, Continental Airlines, New Balance and Western Union.
